Park & Attraction Commissioning and New Park Operations Set – Up
IRT ’ s Commissioning and New Park Set – Up can be offered as a turnkey process, or as itemized services
Pre-Opening Consulting
International Ride Training provides expert Operations Consulting services during the Pre-Opening Phase of attraction projects to ensure that all guest, employee, and operational considerations are fully integrated into the facility’s design and layout. This service bridges the gap between creative design intent and real-world operational efficiency, safety, and guest experience. Our team will collaborate closely with the project’s architects, designers, and developers to review concept drawings, schematic layouts, and attraction designs from an operational perspective.
Key Areas of Focus
Guest Flow
Optimizing entrances, queue lines, and ride platforms to support efficient movement and safe ride operations.
Operational Safety & Emergency Procedures
Evaluating design elements to support safety standards, evacuation protocols, and compliance with industry best practices and applicable codes.
Ride & Attraction Operations
Advising on the operational implications of attraction layouts, load/unload areas, guest visibility, staffing needs, and throughput efficiency.
Deliverables Include:
- Attendance at Meetings (with whomever the Client deems necessary)
- Written recommendations provided after any meeting
- Available by phone or email as needed for reasonable requests and questions
Standard Operating Procedure Development
IRT will work with the Client to develop, draft, and implement SOPs with an eye on practicality. IRT finds the balance between what is written on the page and what is happening in the field so that both are consistent and lay the groundwork for safe, efficient, and professional operation. IRT will then assist the client in revising manuals, checklists, and other operational documents to ensure, from a practical level, that SOPs reflect operational reality and not simply “perfect world” aspirations, and, from a legal and regulatory level, that they are compliant with ASTM or EN standards and local jurisdictional requirements. Once written procedures are in place, an IRT consultant will go to Client site to vet the SOP manuals in-person, to ensure practicality and accuracy.
Ride & Aquatic Manufacturer Coordination
IRT works closely with ride manufacturers and facility owners / operators to provide coordination to ensure operational goals are achieved, and that the information from manufacturers is accurately passed on to the Operations teams during their management and frontline training.
Leadership Training for Operations Professionals
To lay the foundation for a strong Operations Department, IRT can provide a targeted two-day leadership training program for the new park/attraction’s management, focused on building safety-driven, guest-focused, motivational leaders. The program equips managers with practical skills in communication, coaching, situational leadership, and decision-making to effectively lead teams in a high-risk, fast-paced environment. Through interactive workshops and real-world water park scenarios, participants learn to reinforce safety standards, improve team performance, and deliver exceptional guest experiences. The training supports improved safety outcomes, higher employee engagement, and more consistent, high-quality operations across the park.

IRT will remain on-site during operation to support Client Ride Operations trainers and management in managing initial operator performance, evaluating ride operators, supporting re-training of ride operators as necessary, and ensuring understanding of safe operating standards of performance.
